Drones had struck a Syzran oil refinery and the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery in Russia.

It is reported that a fire had broken out at both plants in the Samara region after the attack.

The Russian state news agency RIA Novosti confirms the attack, citing the governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov.

“As a result, the Syzran refinery was on fire. The attempt to attack the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery has been thwarted,” the official said.

A drone attacked the territory of a Syzran oil refinery around 7 a.m., starting a fire over an area of 500 square meters.

The fire at the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery was extinguished in half an hour.

According to the Russian mass media, no one was injured in these incidents.

The governor of the Samara region also reported that he had instructed all services and responsible agencies to pay “priority attention to the protection of facilities in the region.”

In recent days, oil refineries in Russia have been subject to daily drone strikes.

As previously reported, on the night of Friday, March 15, drones hit an oil refinery in the Kaluga region of Russia.

Before that, several dozen drones massively attacked Russian facilities on the night of March 13. In Ryazan, drones hit an oil refinery.

The UK has said that Russia’s oil refining capacity had been reduced by multiple Ukrainian UAV strikes against oil refineries across Russia.
