Fire at the Russian oil refinery in Tuapse. May 17, 2024.

Drones attacked a Russian oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai.

A video of the damage to the oil refinery, which had only recently resumed operations after a previous strike, was published by the Russian media.

Drones hit a Rosneft-owned facility in Tuapse on the morning of Friday, May 17.

Russia claims that two drones allegedly took part in the attack. An air raid siren was activated in the city.

Telegram channels published a video from eyewitnesses among local residents of the moment of the impact of one large drone.

The footage shows that at that time the Tuapse oil refinery was already on fire. Probably from the first drone strike.

Subsequently, the regional authorities confirmed that the “UAV crash” had caused a fire on the territory of the refinery.

According to preliminary information, there were no casualties. Later, local authorities reported that the fire had been contained.

The morning strike on May 17 was a continuation of a series of attacks on Russia’s oil and gas infrastructure in recent weeks.

This was also not the first drone strike on the Tuapse oil refinery. On the night of January 25, a series of explosions occurred at the Russian oil refinery in the city of Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai. These strikes caused a fire.

The media also reported that the company’s vacuum oil distillation unit had also been damaged.

As previously reported, on the night of Friday, May 17, explosions and fires broke out in the Russian city of Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai. The naval base of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation is located in this city.
