Ukrainian drones attacked the production facilities of Russia’s largest manufacturer of power sources for military products.

Relevant footage has been circulating online, including being released by the ASTRA.

The attack targeted the Energia enterprise, located in the city of Yelets, the Lipetsk region, Russia.

According to the mayor of the city, Vyacheslav Zhabin, the drone attack began early in the morning on January 4.

The first air alert with a red level of threat was announced around 5 a.m. Throughout the day, the threat level was changed multiple times – from red to yellow and back to red.

An air alert was declared across the entire region, and the work of air defense systems was audible in the regional center. Local residents reported a lack of mobile phone service throughout the day.

This is not the first attack on the plant. On July 15, 2025, the plant’s territory was attacked by at least four drones. A similar attack occurred on July 3 as well.

Earlier, the plant was also hit on the night of May 23. As a result, one of the workshops caught fire, and nine employees were injured.

Energia

Energia is a Russian company specializing in the production of sealed lead-acid, nickel-cadmium, and lithium-ion batteries, uninterruptible power supplies, and electrochemical energy sources, all meeting military standards.

Its products are used in a wide range of weaponry, from tactical drones to intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Batteries from this plant have been found in the 9M723 Iskander ballistic missile, guided bombs with UMPK kits, and the Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile.

According to data from Russian monitoring services for contractors, the company has multimillion-dollar contracts with over twenty defense sector clients – both directly with the Russian Ministry of Defence and with other Russian defense industry enterprises.

The Energia plant is a critical link in the logistics chain for the production of dozens of types of Russian weaponry.

This is because only three enterprises in Russia specialize in this field, and Energia is the largest among them.
