Several power substations in temporarily occupied Crimea were damaged in a drone attack.

The head of the occupation administration, Sergei Aksyonov, confirmed the incident this morning, according to Astra.

As of now, parts of the peninsula have been left without electricity.

Aksyonov announced that repair work was underway at the damaged facilities to restore electricity supply.

Later, the so-called local ‘authorities’ reported that following the drone attack on power substations in temporarily occupied Crimea, there might be disruptions in the power supply. Scheduled blackouts have also been introduced due to damage at the affected sites.

During the night of October 17th, local residents reported the flight of drones and explosions in their areas across the peninsula.

Eyewitnesses are also sharing photos and videos showing thick black smoke and a fire in the area of the village of Hvardiyske in the Simferopol district. Preliminary reports suggest that the fire is at the oil depot of Kedr LLC, which owns the largest gas station chain, ATAN, in occupied Crimea.

In the morning, the defense ministry of the aggressor country Russian Federation claimed that its air defense systems had allegedly shot down 32 drones over the peninsula overnight.
