In battles against Russian forces, the Ukrainian military is now operating 120 Western-made CAESAR self-propelled howitzers.

Olivier Travert, Director of Marketing and Sales at KNDS France, announced this.

Building on this success, Leonardo DRS and KNDS have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to propose the CAESAR howitzer to the U.S. Army.

Leonardo DRS, a global leader in platform integration, will serve as the prime contractor, while KNDS, a worldwide manufacturer of mobile artillery systems and a wide range of munitions, is the current producer of the CAESAR.

“This weapon is perfectly suited to the challenges that armed forces will face in the coming decades. The 52-caliber CAESAR howitzer has an impeccable record of safety and performance in combat conditions, across any climate, after firing hundreds of thousands of rounds. It also reflects three years of combat experience in Ukraine, where 120 CAESAR howitzers are currently deployed,” KNDS stated.

Its ability to deliver rapid and sustained fire provides steady support during combat, while its high mobility allows it to be deployed on virtually any terrain.

It was also reported earlier that 90% of the gun barrels for CAESAR self-propelled howitzers produced by the KNDS defense group are supplied to Ukraine.
