Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Strikes S-400 Launcher and Radar in Crimea
The moment of the defeat of the S-400 Triumph air defense system in Crimea. July 26, 2026. Freeze frame from the video of the Ministry of Defense

On the night of 26 July, operators from the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine destroyed elements of a Russian S-400 Triumf long-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system in occupied Crimea.

According to the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the operation resulted in the destruction of an S-400 transporter-erector-launcher and a 96L6 all-altitude surveillance radar, both components of the S-400 air defence system.

The S-400 Triumf

The S-400 Triumf is a Russian long- and medium-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system designed to engage and destroy a wide range of aerospace threats, including aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.

The system is capable of engaging aerodynamic targets at ranges of up to 400 km, depending on the missile variant, and ballistic missile targets at ranges of up to 60 km using the 40N6E and 48N6 interceptor missiles.

96L6 Radar

The damaged 96L6 radar is a key target acquisition and surveillance component of the S-400 system, responsible for detecting and tracking incoming aerial targets.

Operating in the S-band, the 96L6E can simultaneously track up to 100 targets and detect aerial objects flying at very low, medium, and high altitudes at ranges of up to 300 km.
