The Bundestag has approved the purchase of 1744 additional Wolf 2 off-road vehicles worth €25 million.
The supply is carried out under a framework agreement with Mercedes-Benz with a total value of about 380 million euros, according to hartpunkt.
In total, the Bundeswehr can receive up to 5,800 Wolf 2 vehicles, of which about 1,500 have already been contracted.
The BAAINBw signed a framework agreement to replace the previous Wolf in July 2024.
In November 2024, the army received five prototypes, which were tested in October 2025.
Production vehicles are currently arriving at the Bundeswehr’s warehouses at a rate of up to 30 units per week.
The first production Wolf 2 is scheduled to be delivered to the troops in the spring of 2026.
The Wolf 2 is based on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class 464 series and is intended for command units and military police.
The vehicle has a gross vehicle weight of 4.5 tons, a payload of 1.2 tons, and a crew of up to 4 fully armed soldiers.
The SUV is equipped with a 183 kW (≈249 hp) diesel engine and an automatic transmission.
The maximum speed exceeds 100 km/h, and the platform is prepared for the integration of D-LBO communications and command and control systems.
The German Army has already ordered 1500 Wolf 2 off-road vehicles.
