Advanced British Sky Sabre air defense systems have arrived in Poland.

This was reported by Mariusz Blaszczak, Polish Defense Minister, on Twitter.

Great Britain transferred these air defense assets to strengthen the security of Poland amid the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The increase in deployment of the foreign military units from NATO allied countries in Poland is happening within the framework of strengthening the Eastern flank of the Alliance.

“The British Sky Sabre air defense system is already in our country to guarantee the safety of the Polish airspace.

This is the result of our strong relations with Great Britain and evidence of our shared concern for the security of the eastern flank,” said the Polish Defense Minister in his statement.

The Sky Sabre air defense system is a new weapon that was first adopted by Great Britain last December.

The new air defense systems are designed to replace the British military’s outdated Rapier anti-aircraft missile system.

Sky Sabre can simultaneously track 24 targets and consists of three components: radar, data transmission system, and anti-aircraft missiles. Each launcher has eight CAMM missiles. The Giraffe omnidirectional radar detects targets at a distance of 120 kilometers.

The data transmission system links the radar and the missiles. It includes the Link 16 tactical network, which allows the exchange of information between the Royal Navy, Air Force, and British allies.

CAMM anti-aircraft missiles weigh 99 kilograms each. They develop a speed of up to 3700 kilometers per hour. The missiles are capable of destroying fighter jets, drones, and laser-guided bombs three times further than the Rapier.

As previously reported, the British Challenger tank company will arrive in Poland this week to strengthen the eastern flank of Poland.
