Laser targeting systems developed and tested in Ukraine are already being used by Defense Forces soldiers on the battlefield.
This was announced by Andriy Hrytseniuk, CEO of the Brave1 cluster, on the Militarnyi program “To Arms!”.
According to him, a year ago there were no such domestic developments.
“For example, laser targeting is already a working solution on the battlefield, made entirely in Ukraine. These developments, which did not exist a year ago, are now working quite effectively,” Hrytseniuk said.
The CEO of the Ukrainian military technology development cluster Brave1 did not specify the specific purposes for which these systems are used.
At the same time, it is known that the military uses laser targeting to accurately adjust guided weapons to their targets, including missiles, artillery shells, and aerial bombs.
The use of such systems significantly increases the accuracy of hitting the selected target with less ammunition consumption.
Typically, laser targeting systems can be implemented as portable infantry devices, modules on armored vehicles, or suspended or built-in systems on unmanned aerial vehicles.
They are also used as part of optical-electronic stations on aircraft and helicopters to ensure high accuracy of strikes.
In July 2025, FRDM presented its R-34-T tactical-level drone with a laser illumination and targeting system.
It is capable of guiding guided bombs and shells to their targets and was developed on behalf of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian company Skyeton has also integrated a laser illumination system into its ACS-3 Raybird reconnaissance drone for guiding guided munitions.
