The British company BAE Systems has shipped the first batch of blanks for 105-mm and 155-mm artillery barrels to Ukraine.

Production of these components has resumed in the United Kingdom for the first time in nearly two decades, the company reported.

The deliveries are being made under a 61-million-pound contract that the UK Ministry of Defense signed with BAE Systems.

The first four barrels were provided as prototypes, which will allow Ukrainian manufacturers to test their manufacturing processes before launching full-scale production.

The metal blanks are manufactured at the Sheffield Forgemasters plant in South Yorkshire and then shipped to Ukraine for final machining and integration into artillery systems.

In May, BAE Systems first presented its new 155-mm anti-aircraft artillery system, the Multi-Domain Artillery Cannon System (MDACS).

The developers mounted the artillery unit on the wheeled chassis of an M1140 cabless truck, which will likely also operate in unmanned mode.
