On June 27, a Ukrainian drone strike targeted the Marinovka military air base in the Volgograd region, damaging five Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers.
According to sources from Astra within the aggressor country’s military, three of the Su-34s were completely destroyed by fire, while two others sustained partial damage. The operation was carried out jointly by the Security Service of Ukraine and Special Operations Forces.
Additionally, one Russian serviceman was reported injured.
The strike on the enemy airfield was also confirmed by satellite images published two days after the attack by the CyberBoroshno project.
At the site of one of the damaged fighter-bombers, visible traces of a probable detonation of the attached armament can be seen. This area is highlighted with a yellow marker on the satellite image.
For comparison, Sentinel-1 images from June 25 show that a group of Russian combat aircraft was stationed in this area.
Additional confirmation of losses among Russian tactical aviation came from reports by so-called Russian war correspondents and propagandists.
