The United States announced $550 million in new military assistance package for Ukraine.
This authorization is the Biden Administration’s seventeenth drawdown of equipment from U.S. Department of Defense inventories .
On August 1, John Kirby, National Security Council Spokesman, shared the details of the new military assistance package to Ukraine.
Subsequently, the press service of the White House reported that U.S. President Joe Biden issued a memorandum on the allocation of a new military assistance package for Ukraine.
The Pentagon mentioned that the package includes 75,000 rounds of 155mm artillery ammunition and additional ammunition for HIMARS rocket systems (their number had not been specified).
The purpose of the new assistance package is to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs in the field of security and defense.
The press service of the Pentagon noted that the United States has committed approximately $8.8 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the Biden Administration has been in the office.
The previous military aid packages from the US had included the provision of the HIMARS systems.
Yesterday, Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine announced that four additional HIMARS systems have already arrived in Ukraine. Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine is equipped with a total of 16 American М142 HIMARS MLRS.
“I’m grateful to US President Joe Biden, Defense Minister Lloyd Austin and US citizens for strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Oleksii Reznikov wrote.
The United States also notes the effectiveness of Ukraine’s use of this systems.
