Assault troops from the 425th Assault Regiment ‘Skelya’ freed two Ukrainian servicemen from Russian captivity in the Kostiantynivka sector.

This was reported by the Espreso.TV channel, which also published a video.

The rescued soldiers were a company commander and a chief sergeant from the 44th Mechanized Brigade, who had fallen into enemy hands while carrying out a combat mission. After receiving information about the soldiers’ capture, the ‘Skelya’ command decided to launch a search-and-rescue operation.

Several assault teams advanced to the area where the servicemen were last reported to be. Ukrainian soldiers engaged in a firefight with Russian troops and successfully rescued the captives. During the operation, one occupier of Kazakh origin was taken prisoner, and four others were killed.

“After we rescued the captives, the engagement continued. As I understand it, some enemy soldiers were able to radio their commanders to report that they were under attack and had lost their captives. The enemy took immediate measures to inflict maximum damage on both their own and our positions,” said a regiment spokesperson.

However, the Ukrainian troops withdrew in time and evacuated without suffering any casualties.

As a reminder, earlier, soldiers from the 41st Mechanized Brigade carried out a successful evacuation operation using a MaxxPro wheeled armored vehicle. The soldiers evacuated civilians and assault troops from the 425th Assault Regiment ‘Skelya’ from the danger zone.
