Ukrainian pilots set a new record by destroying a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a Sting interceptor drone at an altitude of more than 7 km.

The Wild Hornets company told Militarnyi about the incident.

The Klever crew of the Hrim unmanned systems unit of the 27th Prince Sviatoslav the Brave Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine intercepted a Russian UAV at an altitude of 7,472 meters.

Also, in early August, a pilot from the Security Service of Ukraine’s Special Operations Center “A” struck an enemy target at an altitude of 6,955 meters.

The previous record was held by servicemen of the 105th Chernihiv Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, who destroyed a UAV at an altitude of 6,858 meters.

Most of the destroyed targets are Russian ZALA Z-20 reconnaissance UAVs, which the enemy is attempting to fly at higher altitudes to evade Ukrainian air defenses.

In late July, an operator of an interceptor drone from the National Guard’s Lazar’s Group special unit destroyed a Russian reconnaissance UAV at an altitude of 6.4 km.
