In September 2025, NVL Egypt, a subsidiary of the German shipbuilding group NVL, officially began production of ten new coast guard boats under the PV43-M program.

According to hartpunkt, the project is being implemented in cooperation with the Egyptian shipyard Alexandria Shipyard and aims to strengthen the country’s maritime security.

The 43-meter-long boats are designed to perform reconnaissance, surveillance, and critical maritime infrastructure protection tasks.

They will be equipped with modern combat systems developed by European defense companies. In 2023, NVL Egypt was officially selected as the prime contractor for the program by the Egyptian government.

All ten PV43-M boats will be built in Egypt with the technical support of the German parent company NVL, which will allow localizing production and increasing the country’s technological autonomy.

The company works closely with the Egyptian Navy, offering a wide range of services from technical support and infrastructure to training and logistics.
