Biden signs bill providing over $12 billion in aid to Ukraine

US President Joe Biden signed a law on temporary government funding. The draft law is supposed to prevent the so-called shutdown, a forced suspension of the work of state institutions.

The relevant information was released on the website of the White House.

One of the provisions of the document envisages the allocation of $12.3 billion military and financial assistance to Ukraine.

Before the bill reached the White House, it was approved by the US Senate and then the House of Representatives.

The “Continuing Appropriations and Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2023,” which provides fiscal year 2023 appropriations to Federal agencies through December 16, 2022, for continuing projects and activities of the Federal Government and includes supplemental appropriations to respond to the situation in Ukraine.

The bill includes an aid package for Ukraine to combat the full-scale Russian invasion.

In particular, $3 billion is allocated for military assistance, including training, provision of equipment, weapons and logistical support.

Another $1.5 billion will be used to replenish stocks of American equipment provided to Ukraine or foreign countries that have provided support.

$2.8 billion will be spent on continuing military, intelligence and other defense assistance to Ukraine.

$540 million will be used to boost the production of ammunition.

The largest amount of the United States assistance will direct to the Ukrainian economy is $4.5 billion.

An additional $35 million is allocated to finance the response to “potential nuclear and radiological incidents” in Ukraine, as well as to prevent the theft of these materials.
