NATO is ready to aid Ukraine with special equipment for protection against possible chemical and biological threats. They will also be providing cybersecurity support.

During the briefing, the Secretary-General of the Alliance noted that the transfer of relevant equipment is currently being discussed.

The discussions also concern humanitarian aid and financial support.

“Some of the aid packages for brave Ukrainians defending their homes and the country and repelling the invading forces include increasing humanitarian aid and financial support. We discussed other things we would be doing, including providing cybersecurity assistance and equipment that will help Ukraine protect itself from the chemical and biological threats,” Stoltenberg said.

He also mentioned that NATO foreign ministers had agreed to strengthen the capacities of other Alliance partners, including Georgia and Bosnia and Herzegovina so that they would be able to defend themselves.

Stoltenberg noted that NATO Allies have been assisting Ukraine for a long time, and are ready to continue and increase this assistance.

Dmytro Kuleba, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, noted that NATO encourages its Allies to help Ukraine, but it is a long process.

“I am cautiously optimistic about supplies coming from some Allies, but I am not optimistic that NATO as a whole will be supplying Ukraine with the necessary weapons in the foreseeable future. That might change, but I don’t yet see it coming,” said Dmytro Kuleba.

Kuleba also noted that if the relevant decisions would not be made, help might be arriving too late.

“I’m sorry to say this, but it’s true: the battle for Donbas will remind you of World War II, with major operations, maneuvers, participation of thousands of tanks, armored vehicles, aircraft, artillery. Either you help us now, and I’m talking about days, not weeks, or your help will come too late,” said Dmytro Kuleba.
