Zelenskyy: Ukraine to Receive Missiles for Patriot and HIMARS Under Two PURL Packages

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that the first two packages under the PURL mechanism will include missiles for the Patriot and HIMARS systems.

The President stated this during a joint press conference with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.

Ukraine has already received over $2 billion from international partners specifically for the implementation of the PURL program. According to him, this amount could increase to $3.5-3.6 billion in October.

“The first two packages are worth $500 million each. And what will be in these packages? These packages will definitely include missiles for Patriot and HIMARS,” Zelenskyy stated.

Yesterday, the U.S. government approved a new military aid package for Ukraine, which will be delivered in the near future.

This is the first instance of using a new mechanism developed by the U.S. and Allied countries, which provides for the transfer of weapons to Ukraine from U.S. stockpiles using funds from partner nations.

The mechanism is called PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) and is designed to promptly supply the Ukrainian military with weapons that the United States can provide in sufficient quantities.
