Zelensky: 225th Assault Regiment Conducts Active Operations in Belgorod Region

Units of the 225th Assault Regiment are actively engaged in operations in the Belgorod region.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced this during his evening address.

He highlighted that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are continuing their operations in the border area of the Belgorod region, where Russian forces have started to concentrate additional troops.

Currently, the enemy is gathering troops on the border of the Sumy region to deliver a powerful strike and create a new axis of advance on Ukrainian territory.

The deployment of the 225th Regiment should strengthen the units operating in the area, thereby creating better defensive positions and opportunities to destroy enemy forces.

The regiment’s participation in the fighting in the area is also confirmed by the unit’s official resources, which on their website refuted Russian propaganda about the alleged encirclement of its units.

Meantime, the regiment is involved in the destruction of Russian military equipment and took part in the blowing up of several bridges in Grafovka and Nadezhdovka together with the Ukrainian Air Force.

According to available information, the unit operates near the village of Popovka in the Krasnoyaruzhsky district of Belgorod region.

On March 19, 2025, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the operation in the Belgorod region, which had been reported by Russian propagandists, who lamented that the Ukrainian Defense Forces had driven their units out of their positions.

The President stated that since the enemy is concentrating forces for new attempts to breach Ukraine’s state border, the Defense Forces are taking preemptive steps to prevent the enemy from opening a new front line on Ukrainian territory.

Militarnyi previously reported that Ukrainian drone operators from the 414th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Aerial Systems, known as “Birds of the Magyar,” have shot down 33 Russian reconnaissance drones in the Kursk-Belgorod sector over four days.

Among the drones downed were 17 Zala 421s, 14 Supercam S350s, one Tachyon, and a rare and costly Merlin-VR.
