The Varta 2 armored vehicle has completed the codification process and is ready to enter mass production.
The Ukrainian Armor company reported on this.
The Ukrainian-made wheeled vehicle can be equipped with a turret or a combat module.
The manufacturer stated that the Varta 2 armored vehicle has passed all necessary tests, completed the codification process, and has received authorization for delivery to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
Vladyslav Belbas, CEO of Ukrainian Armor, announced that the company is ready to launch the vehicle into serial production. According to him, there is currently a demand on the front lines for equipment of this class.
“Since the prototype presentation, we have received numerous inquiries from the military about the Varta 2, which indicates a high demand for armored vehicles of this class on the front line,” Belbas shared.
The CEO added that, in addition to speed, the vehicle has a high level of protection.
“In addition to speed and mobility, which are essential in modern warfare, the Varta 2 has a high level of protection. The payload capacity, which allows for integrating a combat module, gives the Varta 2 unprecedented firepower for its class of armored vehicles, necessary for infantry support and destroying enemy armored vehicles,” Belbas noted.
Ukrainian Armor has also codified variants of the Varta 2 equipped with a turret and combat module.
Information about the prototype testing of the Varta 2 armored vehicle with the SICH combat module as part of the codification process by the Ministry of Defense was reported in early November 2024.
The combat module is equipped with a 30mm ZTM-1 automatic cannon (a copy of the 2A72), an AG-30 automatic grenade launcher, and a PKT 7.62mm machine gun. An operator remotely controls the system using a control panel from inside the vehicle. It can be used at any time of day or night due to its day and night thermal imaging targeting system, and it is capable of accurate fire while on the move.
In an interview with Militarnyi, the company’s head explained that, specifically for the Varta, the module developers are adapting its design by reducing its weight and refining the artillery component to reduce recoil energy. All of this aims to provide the vehicle with better stability during firing.
Ukrainian Armor publicly presented the first prototype of the Varta 2 for the first time at the MSPO 2024 international exhibition in Poland. The vehicle is structurally completely different from the original Varta. Instead of using a frame structure based on a MAZ truck, the new vehicle features a monocoque body to which a modular chassis from the company Base is attached.
