USA Preparing New Peace Plan for Ukraine-Russia Talks

Ukraine is counting on a trilateral meeting between representatives of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia to end the war by fall, while Marco Rubio announced efforts to find new solutions for holding these talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement following a phone call with US President Donald Trump’s special representatives — Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, according to the Ukrinform news agency.

The head of state reported that, following consultations with the American side, he received proposals that US representatives will further discuss with Russian officials.

Following these discussions, a trilateral meeting is expected to take place, and Ukraine is working hard to ensure it happens by fall.

For his part, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to The Guardian, stated that “new ideas” are needed to unblock the negotiation process, as previous proposals were unacceptable to Ukraine.

He emphasized that the United States is ready to propose new concepts and seek a compromise that will satisfy both sides.

Rubio also spoke about his conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during the ASEAN summit, noting that both sides have incentives to end the war.

At the same time, following his meeting with the US Secretary of State, Lavrov stated that “further arms deliveries” to Ukraine were “unacceptable” and criticized the destabilizing policies of European countries.

According to Bloomberg, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev confirmed that an informal meeting on Ukraine, involving former German and Russian officials, would take place in Baku on July 12-14.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized that the current German government was not involved in these talks and has no information about them.

Amid these diplomatic activities, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, noted that diplomatic efforts and the strengthening of the Defense Forces are parallel processes that bring peace closer.

“Ukraine is doing everything it can to ensure a genuine negotiation process and bring the war to an end,” Budanov said.
