US Shoots Down Mexican Cartel Drones Over El Paso Airspace

The United States intercepted and shot down drones operated by Mexican cartels that entered US airspace near El Paso, Texas.

The incident forced El Paso International Airport to temporarily suspend operations, according to USA Today.

Officials confirmed that military forces used specialized equipment to neutralize the drones that crossed the border.

United States Secretary of Transportation said aviation authorities and the Pentagon acted swiftly to respond to the threat.

He added that the situation is now under control and civil aviation flights in the region have returned to normal.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said her government has no records of drones over the border.

She noted that Mexican airspace remained open and suggested that if the US possesses any evidence, it could be shared with Mexico through an official request.
