The US Army has ordered M110 sniper rifles for Ukraine from Knight’s Armament Company.

The US Department of War said only one bid was received in the procurement competition.

The $21 million contract for production and delivery of M110 semi‑automatic sniper systems is to be completed by January 30, 2027.

The contract, funded through the Ukraine Security Initiative and Partnership Capacity Building accounts, is part of ongoing US efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities.

The M110 — often called the M110 SASS (Semi‑Automatic Sniper System) — is a 7.62×51 mm semi‑automatic rifle developed by Knight’s Armament Company and based on the SR‑25 platform.

It is intended for roles that require a higher rate of fire than bolt‑action rifles while maintaining accuracy at medium and long ranges.

M110 rifles are suitable for Ukrainian marksmen, whose tasks include detecting targets with optics and engaging them at ranges up to about 600 m.
