US Launches New Strikes on Iran – Tehran Responds With Ballistic Missile Launches

The United States launched new strikes on Iran, targeting facilities belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported the strikes.

The command said the strikes were carried out in response to recent attempts by the IRGC to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as U.S. service members deployed in the region.

There are also reports that a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone was shot down over the city of Khomein. It reportedly carried out reconnaissance and helped coordinate the strikes.

Aviation analyst Beam Tracker recorded high activity by U.S. and coalition aerial refueling aircraft.

These included four KC-135Rs, one KC-46A, one A330-202 MRTT, as well as two P-8A maritime patrol aircraft.

The presence of so many tanker aircraft could indicate that many manned aircraft were involved in the strikes, rather than just drones or cruise missiles.

In response to the U.S. strikes, Iran began launching ballistic missiles at various targets across the Middle East.

In Jordan, air defense systems were reportedly activated, and debris was seen falling after missiles were intercepted.

On August 31, U.S. forces struck two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have attacked U.S. military bases in Jordan.

It was also reported that U.S. military leaders are warning Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth against further expanding military operations against Iran.
