US Department of Defense Releases UFO Document Archive

On May 8, 2026, the US Department of Defense announced the release of the first archive of data related to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) as part of the Presidential Unclassified Research and Surveillance Enterprise (PURSUE).

This was reported by the press service of the US Department of Defense.

The department noted that the collection will be posted on WAR.GOV/UFO, and additional files, given the scale of this task, will be published as they are identified and declassified every few weeks.

“The Department of War is in lockstep with President Trump to bring unprecedented transparency regarding our government’s understanding of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation — and it’s time the American people see it for themselves. This release of declassified documents demonstrates the Trump Administration’s earnest commitment to unprecedented transparency,” stated Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

It is reported that the materials published in the first archive pertain to unexplained cases, that is, situations in which the government cannot definitively determine the nature of the observed phenomena.

This may be due to various reasons, including a lack of sufficient data. The Department of Defense also welcomes the contribution of analysis, information, and expertise from the private sector.
