Oshkosh Defense has received a contract from the U.S. Army to supply 97 additional FMTV A2 LVAD trucks in 6×6 and 4×4 configurations.

The deal also includes Arctic operation kits, the company said.

The FMTV A2 LVAD is designed to support mobile brigade combat teams.

The vehicles are adapted for rapid airdrop, allowing equipment and supplies to be delivered directly to hard-to-reach and high-risk areas, reducing reliance on fixed infrastructure.

“The FMTV A2 LVAD closes a known mobility gap for airborne forces,” Pat Williams, CPO at Oshkosh Defense, shared.

Testing of the 6×6 version started in 2023 and included evaluations of rollover protection systems, pre-landing procedures, and landing impact simulations.

The 4×4 model began testing in mid-2024 and, by early 2025, had completed three successful landings at the U.S. Army training area in Yuma, Arizona.
