US approves sale of AARGM-ER anti-radiation guided missiles to the Netherlands

The U.S. Department of State has approved the possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of the Netherlands of advanced AARGM-ER anti-radiation guided missiles.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency of the U.S. Department of Defense published this announcement on the official website.

The report says that the estimated sale price is $700 million, considering the relevant material and technical package.

In total, the Netherlands has requested the United States to purchase 265 AARGM-ER missiles, along with additional spare parts, including an embedded GPS receiver and M-Code.

Also included are Dummy Air Training Missiles (DATM).

The Royal Netherlands Air Force will use missiles of this type in conjunction with the US F-35A fighter jets, which the country operates and continues to purchase.

It should be noted that before that, the country had no experience in anti-radiation warfare, let alone missiles of this type.

Thanks to the purchase of modern Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets, countries now have the opportunity to receive a large set of integrated weapons in the basic version.

It is also possible to integrate its own weapons at its own expense, as is currently the case with the British F-35B fighter jets.

The Royal Netherlands Air Force uses F-35 fighter jets with integrated short-range ASRAAM missiles and Paveway 4 guided bombs.

Work is also underway to integrate Meteor active radar guided beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles and Spear 3 cruise missiles.
