The United States Army has signed a contract with Raytheon to continue producing TOW-2B anti-tank missiles in the coming years.

The Pentagon announced the deal.

The value of this order is more than $271 million. It covers the full production of the systems and guided missiles for them.

Work under the agreement should be completed by February 29, 2028.

The US Army currently uses TOW missiles as part of self-propelled anti-tank systems based on the M966 off-road vehicle, as well as on the Stryker wheeled armored personnel carrier (APC). In addition, infantry units use the TOW-2 man-portable anti-tank system (ATGM).

The Ukrainian Defense Forces also use such systems. These weapons were included in the US aid packages.

The TOW-2B version has been given the capability of radio command control, which made it possible to remove the wire that controlled previous versions of the missiles. In addition, the missile has the ability to attack the target through the roof for more effective destruction. Raytheon signed the first contract for this version of the missile with the US Army in 2006.
