Ukrainian company Ukrspecsystems has launched production of its drones at a manufacturing facility in the United Kingdom.

Valery Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK, announced this on February 25.

He said it is the first Ukrainian defense plant in the United Kingdom.

According to Zaluzhny, the move does not involve relocating main production capacities from Ukraine but aims to expand joint capabilities and ensure production continuity.

The company told Militarnyi that the UK facility will produce up to 200 aircraft per month but did not specify the models. The UAVs will not differ from those manufactured in Ukraine and will be supplied to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

This includes the PD-2 and Shark drones, which are widely used for military intelligence missions.

In September 2025, it was announced that Ukrspecsystems would invest GBP 200 million ($250 million) in a new factory in Mildenhall.

In addition to the plant, which is planned to cover 11,000 square meters, the company also plans to build a testing and training center in Elmsett.

The Ukrainian company plans to expand to additional production sites in the region and offer internships to train the next generation of skilled workers.

Despite opening production in the UK, the company will keep its main drone research and development operations in Ukraine.

For the company, research and development in drones involves developing new technologies, components and solutions to improve the efficiency, reliability, and performance of unmanned systems.

In addition, Ukrspecsystems has secured access to an airfield in the UK and is building a dedicated runway for UAVs. The facility will allow the company to test autopilots, sensors and navigation systems, as well as assess drone performance in windy conditions, at high altitudes, and in the event of communication loss.
