The Ukrainian Defense Forces have captured hundreds of Russian soldiers in the past few weeks.
Ukrainian journalist Volodymyr Zolkin, who published a video with the prisoners, reported on this.
The new prisoners of war have been allocated to four locations where Ukrainian intelligence officers are working with them.
Journalist Dmytro Karpenko demonstrated three locations with captured occupants and said that the fourth location holds 95 prisoners.
“At the fourth location, there were 74 POWs; now there are 95 prisoners,” said Dmytro Karpenko.
After talking to the intelligence, the prisoners will be sent to prisoner-of-war camps and detention centers.
The Ukrainian military transferred the wounded Russian soldiers immediately.
One of the camps for prisoners of war is located in Western Ukraine. Journalist Dmytro Gordon said that residents of the occupied territories of Ukraine who fought on the side of the invaders are also held there.
After arriving at the camp, the prisoners’ military uniforms are taken away from them and they are given a shirt and shoes instead. All POWs are examined by medics, then sent to quarantine for two weeks.
There are no cameras in the camp, and everyone lives in multi-bed rooms without bars. According to the daily routine, there is a 6:00 a.m. wake-up call and a 10:00 p.m. bedtime.
POWs in the camp either glue bags for souvenirs or weave garden furniture. These goods are then sold in Ukrainian supermarkets. According to the Geneva Convention, prisoners are paid about UAH 20 per day for their work, and they can earn UAH 300-400 per month.
In addition, POWs have special accounts through which relatives can send them money. Every week, prisoners of war can talk to their relatives for 15 minutes.
