Ukrainian SPYS Interceptor Drone Shoots Down Geran-5 Missile

Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down a Russian Geran-5 small cruise missile using a SPYS interceptor drone.

The GAU community published the video on its X account.

The footage shows the aircraft being shot down at a speed of about 200 km/h, likely due to a technical malfunction of the Russian missile’s jet engine.

In July, Ukrainian company WIY Drones presented the SPYS interceptor, which can engage targets traveling at speeds of up to 600 km/h.

A company representative told Militarnyi that the interceptor is primarily intended to engage jet-powered Geran drones.

To enable the UAV to reach such speeds, WIY Drones developed its own electronic components. This allows the drone to operate under extreme loads.

The SPYS interceptor uses Ukrainian-made motors from Motor-G, developed according to WIY Drones’ technical specifications.

The drone carries a 300-gram warhead, can engage targets up to 12 km away, and has a flight time of five minutes.
