A Ukrainian Special Forces officer of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine eliminated a Russian soldier at a distance of 2069 meters.

This is reported on the official page of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

The elimination of the invader at a distance of 2069 meters became a record for a sniper and a record for Ukraine in terms of the range of elimination of the enemy with the .338 Lapua Magnum ammo.

A sniper with the call sign Lector from the DIU’s direct operations unit fired a shot with a Finnish Sako M10 rifle.

Today, the absolute record for the range of enemy elimination with the .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge belongs to British sniper Craig Harrison. In 2009, he eliminated a terrorist at a distance of 2,475 meters and damaged their machine gun.

As the Briton himself noted, he had needed to make 9 sighting shots to eliminate the enemy, while the DIU sniper had managed to do it from the first.

“In modern warfare, you have no opportunity to get out of the trench, lie down in the landing, etc. Enemy drones do not allow you to shoot from classic positions,” the scout explained.

He also added that the best rifle for him was the Cadex Kraken for the .338LM cartridge, which was very popular in the world.

According to the DIU, Lector used to work as a gamekeeper in civilian life. At first, he served in the intelligence of one of the brigades of the Theater of Operations, and since February 2023, he has been fighting in the ranks of the DIU’s Direct Action Unit.

He has undergone a number of specialized military exercises, including the DIU sniper training and the “Wrath of the Pure” course from the Come Back Alive Foundation.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that Ukrainian sniper Viacheslav Kovalskyi had broken a world record by hitting a Russian invader at a distance of 3800 meters.

This shot broke the previous world record of 3,500 meters, set in 2017 by a Canadian sniper from Joint Task Force 2, who hit a target at a distance of 3,540 meters with a McMillan TAC-50 .50 BMG rifle.

Viacheslav Kovalskyi and his partner set the new world record using a Ukrainian MCR Horizon’s Lord rifle of 12.7×114 mm HL caliber.

The rifle uses a unique Ukrainian-designed cartridge, which is a 12.7 mm (.50 BMG) bullet in a re-compressed case from the 14.5 mm (.114) cartridge used by the KPVT machine gun. Its length is 16 cm.
