The Ukrainian Navy intercepted and destroyed a Russian surface kamikaze drone in the Black Sea.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Navy.

It is noted that the enemy vehicle was detected in the territorial waters of Ukraine, near civilian shipping routes.

Thanks to the coordinated actions of the Navy and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the target was promptly destroyed, which prevented possible provocations and minimized risks to civilian vessels.

It is not specified what exactly destroyed the drone. It is likely to have been the result of small arms fire or the use of a Ukrainian kamikaze drone.

The type of the Russian drone is not disclosed, but the released footage shows its main structural elements: a flat deck and a frame-shaped superstructure, which is likely to contain an optoelectronic station.

The reasons for the loss of the drone’s movement remain unknown. Presumably, the operator lost contact with the drone due to a technical malfunction or the influence of electronic warfare.

In late August, a medium-sized reconnaissance ship, the Simferopol, was damaged as a result of a breakthrough by one of Russia’s kamikaze surface drones into Ukraine’s territorial waters.

Russian surface drones

Earlier it was reported that the Russian research and production center “Ushkuynik” has developed a marine drone with fiber optic control.

It is noted that the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation has already received such a device for testing, and combat tests were planned to be conducted in September. The drone is equipped with a coil with a secure fiber optic cable.

Due to its own weight, the cable sinks, sinks to the bottom, and the reel gradually unwinds, and it may also be reinforced.

In July, it became known that Russia presented a surface logistics drone for “civilian use” with an internal cargo compartment.

The drone was developed in cooperation with C Project and Unmanned Logistics.

The device, called Breeze, visually resembles a RHIB boat with cargo and hardware superstructures.

The cargo compartment is equipped with automated doors, which allows the drone to be used as a platform for transporting other drones or missile weapons.
