Ukrainian companies have received their first permits for the controlled export of weapons.

This was announced by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.

A key step in this process was the resumption of work by the Interdepartmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation and Export Control after an eight-month hiatus.

All decisions on exports are made with priority given to meeting the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Sales are only permitted in those segments where domestic production capacity significantly exceeds the volume of purchases for domestic needs.

Today, the total production capacity of the Ukrainian defense industry is estimated at over $55 billion. The greatest potential is observed in the areas of unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare, and reconnaissance.

It is in these areas that the capabilities of enterprises already exceed the volume of domestic financing, making external supplies economically necessary.

Receiving foreign currency revenues will help enterprises not only to preserve jobs, but also to launch new technological developments.
