On September 13, 2024, units of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces repelled a mechanized assault by the Russian Airborne Forces in the Kursk oblast.

The Ukrainian Air Assault Forces shared this news on its official Telegram channel.

“The troops of the aggressor state are making desperate attempts to push out the Ukrainian Defense Forces from the Kursk region,” stated the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces.

The enemy engaged 14 units of military equipment, including two tanks, eleven airborne infantry fighting vehicles, and one armored personnel carrier. The vehicles were also equipped with additional protection against drones.

The involvement of airborne infantry fighting vehicles in the battle suggests that a unit of the Airborne Forces attempted to carry out the attack.

According to the video, FPV drones were used to repel the assault, as well as pre-placed anti-tank mines. The quality of the video does not allow us to clearly identify some of the destroyed vehicles. However, the video shows that at least six Russian vehicles were destroyed.

“As a result, five airborne infantry fighting vehicles, a tank and an armored personnel carrier of the Russian troops, as well as several dozen 200th Russian soldiers remained on the battlefield. The rest of the surviving Russian servicemen of the Airborne Forces fled,” the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces reported.

As previously reported, on September 10, 2024, Russian troops launched an offensive in the Kursk oblast to push the Ukrainian Defense Forces out of Russia.

A Russian armored group attacked the village of Snagost from the side of the village of Korenevo.

In response, the Ukrainian Defense Forces made a breakthrough on a new section of the front in the Kursk oblast, threatening the flank of the advancing Russian group.

The breakthrough of the Russian border occurred in the area towards the village of Vesele. Due to engineering reconnaissance, the offensive routes were prepared, allowing the troops to cross the border unhindered and safely continue to move through enemy territory.

“We have entered a new place, kilometers into Russia… a group of Russian conscripts numbering at least a thousand people is under the threat of encirclement,” reported the Khorne Group.
