Ukrainian forces have liberated part of the village of Tovste in the Donetsk region, pushing out Russian troops.
The operation was carried out by the 5th Heavy Mechanized Brigade, part of the 20th Army Corps.
Strike drone operators and artillery units supported the assault from the air and ground.
Ukrainian assault groups raised the national flag near houses in the liberated area, consolidating their gains.
During the operation, FPV drones and heavy Vampire bomber drones were used to drop explosive munitions on Russian positions.
Thanks to coordinated actions across units, Ukrainian forces inflicted heavy losses on the enemy and pushed them out of part of the settlement.
The advance was confirmed on August 22nd by analysts from the DeepState project.
Tovste lies on the administrative border between Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
In this area, Russian troops are trying to drive Ukrainian units out of the Donetsk region and advance into the Dnipropetrovsk region.
A breakthrough in this sector could weaken Ukraine’s defenses in Donbas and force Kyiv to move reserves to hold the line.
This would give Russian forces the chance to increase pressure on other parts of the front.
Recently, in the same area, Ukrainian troops prevented Russian forces from consolidating their positions after entering the village of Oleksandrohrad.
