The Ukrainian-made Blyskavka-2 UAV uses experimental higher-power batteries.
The founder of the manufacturing company, known by the call sign “Professor,” shared this in an interview with Militarnyi.
Solid-state batteries are primarily used to power UAVs with built-in Starlink terminals.
The declared cost of one power unit is twice as high as that of an average battery — UAH 15,000.
“It turns out that if 2.6 kg gives 30,000 mAh, then at roughly the same weight they will have around 40,000. That is how we estimate efficiency,” the guest noted.
The transition to more powerful batteries is associated with expanding the platform’s capabilities, in particular enabling medium-range strikes with a range of up to 140 km.
“We are currently using them (solid-state batteries) as experimental batteries for Starlink, primarily. If our standard battery costs, conventionally, UAH 7,000, this one will cost 15,000,” the manufacturer said.
The guest also emphasized breaking the perception that such devices are expensive.
“We are now cheaper than FPV15, we carry more and fly farther,” “Professor” summarized.
The Blyskavka-2 wing-type kamikaze drone is an upgrade developed by the Blyskavka company of the UAV of the same name, which in turn is a product of reverse engineering and deep modification of a captured Russian Molniya-series UAV.
The estimated cost of the strike drone is $900, while the cost of the device in reconnaissance configuration is $2,000–3,000.
According to the developer, the use of such an inexpensive UAV should not be limited to reconnaissance. That is why the drone carries a warhead regardless of its configuration and can strike a stationary enemy target after completing reconnaissance missions.
