Ukrainian Armor Begins Production of NATO-Caliber Shells Under Czechoslovak Group License

The company Ukrainian Armor has started production of 105 mm and 155 mm ammunition in Ukraine under a license from the Czechoslovak Group.

The Czechoslovak Group (CSG) reported about this on its website.

CSG said the production is being carried out through its Ukrainian partner – Ukrainian Armor – to which CSG provided the license, manufacturing know-how, and key components.

The Czechoslovak Group noted that this project marks another milestone in the long-term cooperation between the Czech and Ukrainian defense industries and significantly strengthens Ukraine’s capability to supply domestically produced artillery ammunition.

“CSG does not own any factory or production technology in Ukraine. All of this is managed by our partner, to whom we have granted the license and provided the necessary know-how, since they already had the required manufacturing technology and could start production relatively quickly,” Andrej Čírtek, CSG spokesperson, stated.

The Ukrainian partner manufactures the shell bodies on-site and performs filling, final assembly, and testing.

At the same time, CSG continues to supply high-value components and provides technical support to ensure product quality.

The initial production capacity is 100,000 rounds of 155 mm and 50,000 rounds of 105 mm per year.

The capacity is expected to increase severalfold over the coming years.

“Initially, half of production will be localized in Ukraine to achieve 80 percent self-sufficiency. During the project’s implementation, production of detonator components will also be gradually transferred to Ukraine,” Czechoslovak Group said.

At the end of 2024, Vladyslav Belbas, the director of Ukrainian Armor, shared with Militarnyi that the company would receive licenses from the European defense holding Czechoslovak Group to produce NATO-caliber tank and artillery shells.

The relevant cooperation agreement between the defense companies was signed last October.
