During January, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted a series of successful strikes on the Russian Kapustin Yar missile test range.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the targets were hit using long-range, Ukrainian-made weapons, including FP-5 Flamingo missiles.

The strikes caused damage of varying severity to several facilities at the range, with one hangar sustaining significant damage.

The Kapustin Yar test range, located in Russia’s Astrakhan Region, has been used by Russian forces to launch Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missiles at Ukraine.

According to analysts from the Exilenova+ group, an FP-5 Flamingo missile struck infrastructure at the Kapustin Yar range during the night of January 27–28.

Russia last used the Oreshnik missile system against Ukraine on January 8, when a strike was carried out on the outskirts of Lviv.
