The Government of the Netherlands intends to hand over the 155 mm PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.
Militarnyi informs about it, citing a statement of an unnamed German official to Bloomberg.
Germany will in turn provide Ukraine with 155-mm ammunition and will offer training for heavy artillery.
The training could be provided in Poland or Germany.
PzH-2000 is a 155-mm closed-type gun on a crawler chassis, built on the basis of components and units of the “Leopard-2” tank.
For firing, separate-loading rounds are being used in the NATO countries’ armies.
Equipped with a muzzle brake and ejector, the gun barrel with a rifled channel has a length of 52 calibers and is equipped with a charging chamber.
In addition, the interviewee of the publication confirmed that the German government is negotiating the supply of tanks to Ukraine, yet not directly.
Instead of offering supplies directly, Germany would be providing modern tanks to Eastern European countries that are willing to send Soviet-era equipment to Ukraine.
Previously, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made it clear that the supply of weapons to Ukraine from the Bundeswehr’s reserves is unlikely.
Instead, he proposed the following scheme: Ukraine would select the weapons from a list provided by German manufacturers, and Germany would provide money to purchase them.
He also mentioned that the NATO partners supplying Soviet-era weapons to Ukraine could in return be receiving weapons from Germany.
