The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will create four interregional rehabilitation centers for military personnel.

Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk, the Deputy Minister of Defense, announced this.

At an expanded Council on Barrier-Free Environment meeting in Kyiv, he presented two strategic initiatives of the Ministry of Defense aimed at strengthening the military medical system – Recovery and Health Centers and Wounded soldier’s package.

The Recovery and Health Centers initiative involves the creation of a network of modern military-medical rehabilitation and mental health centers in Ukraine.

“The Ministry of Defense is launching a large-scale project to create a network of military-medical rehabilitation and mental health centers. By the end of 2025, the Ministry of Defense will establish four interregional rehabilitation centers that will be able to accommodate up to 1,730 military personnel at the same time,” Serhiy Melnyk reported.

The rehabilitation initiative will include medical treatment, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, support for military families, and social adaptation.

Additionally, a series of training courses for medical personnel will be launched on the online platforms Reserve+ and Army+ to help them effectively work with military personnel who have PTSD.

The second initiative, the Wounded Warrior Package, is a structured system of in-kind assistance for all wounded soldiers.

The package will include 30 items, including adaptive clothing and personal hygiene products necessary for stabilization and further treatment.

“The Recovery and Health Centers will provide an opportunity for military personnel to undergo treatment and rehabilitation more quickly, while the ‘Wounded Package’ will ensure that our defenders have the essential items from the first days of hospitalization,” the Deputy Minister of Defense emphasized.

Serhiy Melnyk added that the Ministry of Defense will work on ensuring a barrier-free environment in all medical institutions of the Ministry of Defense.

The ministry emphasizes that both projects are part of the National Strategy for creating a barrier-free environment and a tangible contribution to building a strong, modern, and humane military medical system.
