Ukraine sent Germany a list of the desired defensive weapons and equipment.

The German Ministry of Defense and Foreign Ministry received an official request from Ukraine for the supply of defensive weapons systems and military equipment that it asks to provide to the Armed Forces to protect against the expansion of Russian military aggression,. This is reported by the DW.

According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, which is referred by the media, such an official request was sent by the Ukrainian embassy in Germany.

It says about the “extremely tense security situation on the Ukrainian-Russian border” and that the buildup of Russian troops can be considered “preparation for a new armed attack” on the territory of Ukraine.

Kyiv appealed to Germany for a swift response.

According to the media, the document contains a detailed list of weapons and military equipment that Ukraine needs.

This list includes, inter alia, medium-range air defense systems, man-portable air defense systems.

Ukraine also needs man-portable electronic warfare systems against unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic radar systems, as well as night vision devices, surveillance cameras and ammunition.

The letter emphasizes that it is about “defensive weapons systems”.

Until now, the German government has refused to supply Ukraine with weapons and military equipment. According to German officials, the provision of weapons to our country can only increase tension and make negotiations with Moscow even harder than they are now. The position of non-delivery of weapons to crisis regions is also enshrined in the coalition agreement of the current government. However, recently in the German political circles there are more and more calls to reconsider their position and make an exception for Ukraine.

It is worth mentioning that last month, Germany agreed to provide five thousand protective military helmets for the Ukrainian servicemen. Also earlier, Berlin decided to allocate 5.3 million euros to Kyiv for a mobile field hospital.
