Ukraine in Talks to Produce Czech Weaponry Locally

Ukraine is negotiating to lozalize the production of various Czech weapons.

Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with a delegation from the Intergovernmental Defense Cooperation Agency (AMOS) of the Czech Ministry of Defense.

Leading Czech defense companies’ representatives were also present at the meeting.

They discussed concrete steps to speed up the delivery of support from the Czech Republic and expand cooperation.

Delegations focused on the following key areas:

• exchange of military technologies
• development of industrial cooperation between Ukraine and the Czech Republic
• production and supply of large-caliber ammunition

“We are launching new joint projects that will strengthen our soldiers at the frontline. One of them is the production of rifles under the Danish financing model,” said Rustem Umerov.

Some of these weapons are already being produced in the Czech Republic, while Ukraine is in talks to localize production of another part.

It is known that in 2024, Ukraine launched the licensed assembly of Czech BREN 2 assault rifles.

This is a practical continuation of cooperation with Česká zbrojovka, a subsidiary of Colt CZ of the Czech Republic.

The agreement with Česká zbrojovka, which provides for the localization of assembly and subsequent full production of NATO-standard assault rifles in Ukraine, was signed on July 16.

The partnership with Česká zbrojovka will help to improve the supply of modern small arms to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

CZ BREN 2 is used by military forces and law enforcement agencies around the world. The assault rifles manufactured by Česká zbrojovka will be produced in Ukraine under the Sich brand.
