Hundreds of Martlet missiles for Ukraine were delivered several months ahead of schedule.
As reported on the UK Ministry of Defence website, Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry Luke Pollard led a trade delegation that visited Kyiv this week.
The delegation brought good news for Ukraine, the Ministry’s website notes.
“Missiles important for Ukraine have been delivered several months earlier than planned,” the statement reads.
Current missile production work in the UK directly creates 200 jobs and supports a further 700 existing jobs, boosting economic growth and implementing the government’s plan for change.
According to the UK Ministry of Defence, these are lightweight, multi-purpose Martlet missiles that have been providing protection for Ukraine against threats since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.
The latest phase of the £1.6 billion deal, signed earlier this year, involves integrating these missiles into Ukraine’s air defense system.
The UK emphasized that this is an important step in developing Ukraine’s sovereign defense capabilities.
Luke Pollard added that the UK is strengthening its unwavering support for Ukraine in defending against the illegal Russian invasion.

A total of £4.5 billion has been allocated from the UK budget for military assistance to Ukraine — the largest amount in the history of bilateral alliance.
In addition, the UK plans to implement other joint projects with Ukraine, including the production of glide bombs.
