Trump announced a $130 million donation to military personnel during the government shutdown, but did not reveal the donor’s name.
US President Donald Trump shared that an anonymous billionaire donated $130 million to ensure military salaries are paid during the ongoing government shutdown, which began on October 1, according to Reuters.
According to him, “a friend who loves the military and the country” decided to cover the financial deficit caused by the Democrats’ shutdown of the government.
“He called and said, ‘I want to personally help the military if there is a delay because of the Democrats. And today he sent us a check for $130 million,” Trump said.
The President refused to name the benefactor, explaining that he did not want publicity.
According to the American president, this is the kind of action that can be considered true patriotism.
It should be noted that, due to budgetary constraints in the US, about 46,000 military personnel have been left without pay.
The donation is intended to partially offset this shortfall, though the White House has not specified how the funds will be distributed.
At the same time, Donald Trump recently announced that he plans to allocate $500 million for anti-drone protection for the World Cup.
