A train arrived in Russia from North Korea. This became known after U.S. statements about the possible supply of weapons between the countries.
The train was captured on Planet Labs satellite images.
The movement of the train from North Korea to Russia was recorded on Friday, November 4.
On Friday morning at 10:24 local time (01:24 UTC), a warehouse consisting of three closed wagons was visible on one of the railway lines next to the cargo handling area.
The eastern carriage is light blue, the second appears to be darker blue and the rear carriage is reddish brown.
The 800-meter Korea–Russia Friendship Bridge is the only land connection between the countries.
North Korea blocked this track in February 2020 when it closed its borders due to the pandemic.
The destination of the train showcased on satellite imagery cannot be determined, but the crossing comes amid reports of arms sales from North Korea to Russia and a general expectation for renewed trade between the two countries.
The train consisted of three closed wagons. It was first recorded on the Korean side of the border, and in a few hours – on the tracks of the Russian Hassan station.
Recently, John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council in the White House, said that North Korea secretly supplies Russia with large batches of artillery shells.
Earlier, the Pentagon said that despite the DPRK’s objections to the supply of weapons and ammunition to Russia, the Kremlin was intensively trying to obtain weapons from North Korea.
U.S. officials have said they will work to expose and counter weapons shipments to Russia from Iran and North Korea and will target networks that allow those shipments. However, they did not explain exactly how they plan to do this.
