U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Danish Defense Forces will conduct a joint exercise starting on September 18.

The announcement was made public on the website of the U.S. Navy.

The exercises will include convoy protection using a modern modular SM-6 missile launcher.

It is noted that such exercises are a demonstration of ongoing commitment to transatlantic security and defense interoperability.

“By conducting these operations from Danish soil, the United States reaffirms the strategic importance of Denmark as a key ally in ensuring regional stability,” the statement said.

This exercise further solidifies the enduring defense partnership between the U.S. and Denmark, emphasizing our joint dedication to mutual security objectives and cooperative defense efforts.

Militarnyi previously reported that the NATO countries had launched exercises to protect the Baltic Sea coast.

The exercises were planned and conducted under the leadership of the German Navy Headquarters and involved 14 countries, including the United States and Canada.

SM-6

The RIM-174 SM-6 ERAM (Standard Missile, Extended Range Active Missile) is a ship-launched anti-air and anti-surface interceptor missile developed by Raytheon Company.

The cost of the unit is estimated at approximately $5.1 million. The missile consists of a Mk 72 first stage and a Mk 104 second stage.

The missile has a range of 340 kilometers. It is designed to combat aircraft, UAVs, helicopters, and anti-ship cruise missiles over water and land.

The SM-6 can be launched from Mk 41 vertical launch system.
