The Armed Forces of Ukraine are increasingly using foreign weapons to fight Russian invaders.

Photos of the Ukrainian serviceman equipped with the LMP-2017 mortar were released on social networks.

Back in early February, even before the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, it was reported that Poland would be handing over the light infantry mortars to Ukraine.

On February 4, during a visit to the Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów defense manufacturing company, the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki announced the transfer of these weapons to Ukraine.

It was reported that Poland would hand over the light 60-mm mortars and 40-mm hand grenade launchers to Ukraine.

They were to hand over 100 units of 60-mm LMP-2017 light infantry mortars and 1,500 of its ammunition.

The LMP-2017 light infantry mortar is used to destroy manpower, light fortifications on the battlefield, firing positions, and military equipment with semi-direct fire in optical visibility at any time of day and under any weather conditions.

The manufacturer offers LMP-2017 in two caliber variations: Polish 59.4 mm, and the 60.7 mm according to STANAG 4425.2.

Mortar can shoot “manually” with the weight of ammunition being 2.3 kg.

Previously, the Ukrainian forces received the DZIK infantry mobility vehicles made in Poland. They are designed for law enforcement units that patrol dangerous areas.

The exact number of Polish infantry mobility vehicles delivered is not disclosed.

Ukrainian tank operators are also mastering the T-72M1 and T-72M1R tanks, which were transferred as part of Polish assistance to defend against Russian aggression.
