The Ukrainian military shared their assessment of the RGW-90 Matador grenade launcher

The Ukrainian military shared their assessment of the RGW-90 Matador multi-purpose disposable grenade launchers.

These grenade launchers from Dynamit Nobel Defense were introduced to service of the Ukrainian military in 2022. Germany supplied a rather large batch of RGW-90 grenade launchers for Ukraine.

Also in June, it was reported that Ukraine purchased 2900 of these grenade launchers directly from Dynamit Nobel Defense.

These grenade launchers armed the Armed Forces and volunteer units. It was reported that they were used in the battles for Mariupol.

The channel “KHLOPCI Z LISU” (“Boys from the Forest” – ed.) published the post of the servicemen claiming that RGW-90 is quite simple and practical grenade launcher.

“To use it, you need to drop the optical sight, remove the shoulder rest, and pull out the handles that release the trigger mechanism,” the military shared.

A fuse with the positions “Safe” and “Fire” is located above the handle.

To shoot at armored targets, you need to pull out the rod and twist it until an orange tuber appears.

“A 90mm projectile that can well hole walls and lightly armored targets is located inside this grenade launcher,” the servicemen shared.

RGW-90 is capable of penetrating APCs, IFVs, yet there is no guarantee that the Matador will easily break through reactive tank armor.

“This summer, the soldiers of the 93rd Brigade fired RGW90 into the forehead of a Russian tank with reactive armor. The tank was not destroyed, but it was stopped, and soldiers who were on the top of the tank got minced,” the military shared the story of grenade launchers being used.

The effective fire range of this grenade launcher is up to 500 meters. The grenade launcher is not heavy (8.9 kg), one soldier can carry a couple of RGW-90 at once (one on the shoulder, the second one in the hand).
