The Armed Forces of Ukraine reclaim several settlements in south Ukraine.
This was announced during a morning update by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian occupation forces have lost control over a number of settlements on the administrative border between Ukraine’s Mykolaiv and Kherson regions upon the battles with the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
The liberation was made possible due to the successful operations of Ukrainian defenders in the southern direction of defense.
The invaders continue their offensive activities in the Operational Zone “East” to establish full control over the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and to establish a ground corridor with the temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea.
The enemy continues its artillery shelling along the line of contact in the Donetsk and Tavria directions.
The enemy is using the operational-tactical and army aircraft to launch missile and bomb strikes in order to restrain the operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Russian occupation forces are trying to run offensive operations in the Lyman, Sievierodonetsk, and Popasna areas in the Donbas.
Previously, on May 1, during an artillery and mortar attack on the Mykolaiv region, the Russian military shell hit an agricultural warehouse with nitrate acid.
In addition, on May 2, a powerful explosion occurred at the airport of the occupied Kherson.
From the beginning of the occupation of the city, the Kherson airport became a place of concentration of considerable forces of the Russians. The Ukrainian army repeatedly attacked Chornobayivka.
Resulting from several such strikes, Russia lost a significant number of helicopters and other equipment.
However, given the importance of defending Kherson from the Ukrainian counteroffensive, the Russians cannot leave the territory and are forced to remain in the zone of fire damage by Ukrainian artillery.
